Micro Moments, Audience Psychology and Keyword Research : The Marketing Drive ep 11

In today's episode I'm talking about capturing micro-moments of intent, the importance of search psychology and why keyword research is far from a menial task.

Let's stop fluffing off keyword research as some trivial task, it in fact gets directly into the thoughts, feelings and aspirations of the human being on the other side of the computer - a.k.a our potential customer. In today's drive we're covering:

  1. How frequently I say "umm" (annoying to me).
  2. What is a micro-moment and why identifying moments of intent are critical to success.
  3. How search engines are really windows into our hearts and minds.
  4. Why keyword research is such a crucial factor when determining your marketing message and campaigns.

Lowering High CPA Rates : The Marketing Drive ep 9

You hear it every day: "My CPAs are too high!"

Managing paid marketing budgets is challenging, technical, psychological and ever evolving. When dealing with client budgets, it's important to understand the following:

  1. The CPA is only as low as it needs to be to target the proper end consumer and no lower.
  2. Introducing your final offer (the purchase) via paid marketing channels will always result in high CPA levels and low conversion rates.
  3. Introducing the notion of the Cost Per Lead (CPL) will vastly reduce your spend, increase your conversions and build an addressable audience that will be primed for your final offer.
  4. Explaining this process to clients is the single most important thing you can do to run a cost effective paid media program that will sustain itself for the long term.

That's the Marketing Drive for May 26th, please drop your comments below and feel free to get a hold me anytime on Twitter at @dannomatic or with the entire team @honeypot_mkting.

You hear it all too often when managing Paid Media and PPC spends. My CPA is way too high, we need low CPA rates.

In today's Marketing Drive we're talking about CPA levels, what they mean, how lower CPA levels and introduce the almighty CPL metric into your marketing conversion funnel.

Integrating Bootstrap and Genesis

Genesis + Bootstrap

Bootstrap is one of my personal favourite frameworks and Genesis Framework by StudioPress is a go to when putting together conversion centric websites.

Marrying the best of both worlds allows me to be responsive out of the box, prioritize messaging and increase conversions to a goal.

Adding Bootstrap functionality to a Genesis powered site is relatively simple.

Step 1: Grab the compiled Bootstrap 2 includes

It's really just as simple as adding this block of code to your site header:

<!-- Latest compiled and minified CSS -->

<!-- Optional theme -->

<!-- Latest compiled and minified JavaScript -->
<script src="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.2.0/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>

Special thanks to the fine folks at MaxCDN for hosting the compiled versions of bootstrap!

Step 2: You're done if you want to be

If your comfortable with basic HTML and CSS, which any modern marketer should be, then you're technically finished. You can go right ahead and start including your Bootstrap-ified code into posts and pages.

Woot!

If you're not 100% comfortable with that concept, then you should head over to Treehouse, CodeAcademy or CodeSchool and start sharpening those skills.

Step 3: But wait, my users aren't comfortable with HTML/CSS

Point well taken. There are a few options for you smooth the transition for your writers and users to insert Bootstrap happiness into their workflow.

Head over to wordpress.org and grab any one of the following fine Bootstrap 3 shortcode plugins:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/bootstrap-shortcodes/ simple but does require some understanding of how Bootstrap works.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-bootstrap-shortcodes/ this one has a free and premium version. I can't vouch for the premium features.

Done is better than perfect: wrapping it up

I was hacking around, updating things when I decided to give this a shot. There are some minor styling tweaks, which I am sure could be resolved given a little bit more time and effort.

Adding some Bootsrap mojo to your Genesis powered site will give you the flexibility and the best of both worlds, I'm looking forward to hearing where your Bootstrap + WordPress + Genesis escapades lead you, hit me up on LinkedIn, Twitter or down below in the comments.

Beautiful sunsets in Algonquin Park

Algonquin Whispers

I've spent many years tripping through Algonquin Park. There are literally hundreds of images I've been lucky enough to capture, as difficult as it is to sort through all of them, I've managed to put together a small collection of favourites from Lost Dog Lake, Lake Sisco, North Tea Lake and the Amable Du Fond.

I hope you enjoy them and don't forget to Go Outside.

Algonquin Park photographs I've taken over the years.

Selected images from Lost Dog Lake (Lake Namegos), Lake Sisco, North Tea Lake and the Amable Du Fond River.
