Hey Dan nice post about Twitter and conversion rates. I think one problem plaguing Twitter is the number of automated / robot accounts, which is adding lots of fluff and spam to the mix.

I think point #4 about not being afraid to unfollow people hits the core. However, I’d say that you can find out most of the accounts adding ‘white noise’ without needing to add them. Just check their profile description, website, the quality and timeliness of their tweets, and you should have a good idea of a good follower or bad follower.

I recently put up a post on my blog about how to optimize twitter for SEO, one of the key things I discussed was exactly how getting the right kind of followers, and people you follow, is essential to higher conversions.
